Speaker’s Profile:
Jiankang Liu, PhD. is a co-founder of Life Star USA, a
biotech company of dietary supplements. Dr Liu’s major academic appointments
include Associate Staff Scientist and Director of Animal Behavior Assessment
Core Facility at Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute, Associate
Research Professor (Prof.-Res. Series: Associate Professional Research Step IV)
in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California at
Berkeley, and Visiting Professor of the Shanghai Institute for Nutritional
Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his B.S. from Jiaotong University
at Xi’an, China, PhD degree in Medical Science from Okayama University Medical
School, Japan, and post-doctoral training in the laboratory of Professor Bruce
N. Ames at the University of California at Berkeley.
Dr. Liu is a member
of several professional organizations, including Society for Neuroscience and
American Aging Association. He serves on the editorial boards of International
Journal of Stress Management, Neurochemical Research, Neuroscience Research
Communications, and Nutritional Neuroscience, and as ad hoc reviewer for more than 20 international journals. His
research involves studies on aging, stress, learning and memory, exercise,
mitochondrial free radical biology & medicine, and dietary and nutritional
modulation of mitochondrial decay in stress, aging, and age-related
degenerative diseases. Dr. Liu has
published more than 60 papers in international scientific journals and has been
frequently invited to give lectures on international meetings and seminars at
universities and research institutes around the world.
